Hunter to Appear on KHOU CH.11NEWS!

3-25-2009

Hunter is doing very well. He has been recovering at his house and is waiting to undergo another round of surgeries in April. He got himself a glass eye and was featured on the front page of the Conroe Courier in Conroe, TX. Hunter and I will also be appearing on KHOU channel 11 news on March 31 at 10pm!!!

Everyones support defiently lifted his spirits and we thank you all very much for all that you all have done. As of now, we have an excess of items that Hunter received while in the hospital. Most of it is candy and other items. Hunter has decided that we should send this stuff oversees to soldiers that are currently in the battle zone.

I have been working on putting together an official non-profit to provide some of the things to other severely wounded soldiers that we were able to on here and also to help the active. Ive had this idea for a while and Hunter thinks I should go with it. We are in the process of filing paperwork with the IRS to become official and we are asking for monetary donations to accomplish our goal. I can assure you that no money has been wasted and it is all going to expanding our operations.

I will try to post the story that will appear on the news on here once I get a copy. I will also be outlining the new non-profit once everything is ready to go.

Thank you again everyone and I look forward to what the future holds.

Welcome to Hearts for Hunter!

Hello Everyone!

First and foremost, I would like to say Welcome to Hearts for Hunter! This site is your avenue for providing support for PFC Hunter Levine!

My name is Blake Meaux. I am the founder and executor of Hearts for Hunter. I want to thank you all for the support and words of encouragement that you all continue to provide. Hunter is going through a tough time in his life, but your support is very uplifting to him.

As you know, it is our duty as Americans to provide support to our soldiers when they are in need. Hunter has a lot to go through in the near future and needs us to be his backbone until he can get back on his feet.

The reality is that Hunter may never regain his sight. The blast shattered his face, causing him to lose one eye while severely damaging the other. During surgery in the remaining eye, doctors were able to recover 30-40% of his retina, but there is no guarantee that this eye will become functional.

There are many things that will be provided to him by the military, as well as many things that will not. 100% of the donations we receive are going towards Hunter’s future and recovery and I hope that you can join me in supporting him.

My goal is to make his recovery as smooth as possible. We will get him back on his feet so he can become a successful contributor to society and live as much as a normal life as possible

Before Hunter left for Iraq, he came over to our house for a small going away celebration. During the party, my brother and I were discussing with Hunter the dangers he was soon to face. He courageously told us that “He would die for us if need be.” This comment stuck with me because he said it with no hesitation or fear as if it was his duty to protect us.

When Hunter was wounded, I immediately took action to build a support system for him. If he was willing to sacrifice himself for our well-being, then I could only return the favor. I have spent many hours working for Hunter because it is the right thing to do. I refuse to sit back and assume that the job will get done. Instead, we together will make it happen with your continued support.

I will keep everyone posted on Hunters progress. He and his family are very grateful for the support that you have all provided. It is amazing what we can accomplish together!!

Thank you,

Blake Meaux

Update from Aunt Theresa

Just got this in from Hunter’s Aunt Theresa –

Hunter came to my house for Thanksgiving along with his Dad and two sisters. He stayed Wed thru Friday and did so well. He is definitely in better spirits and I know had a great time. Many of his old family friends stopped by to visit and we had lots of extended family here.

Update on Hunter - November 24, 2008

Here is an update from Blake ..

First of all, there has been a tremendous amount of support for Hunter. Everyone has been amazing! There are so many comments and they are so powerful and encouraging! Im almost done putting them all on tape for him! I visited him a couple weekends ago and he seems to be doing well; the same old Hunter personality wise! Also, some more good news: Hunter is back at home for good! He will of course have to fly back to Walter Reed for some surgerys, but beside that his long stay in the hospital is over!

He obviously has a lot more to go through though….mainly the adjustment back to life. In reality, this is the beginning of a new life for him and he’s going to have to learn a different way to live it.

I also wanted to let you know that in a couple weeks Hunter, his sister, and I are flying out to Orlando. Gary had invited Hunter and 2 friends to go so he chose me and his sister. I’m really excited, as this will be a great opportunuty for the site.

Hunter & Blake have big changes for the site so it might start to have a bit different look over the next couple of months. We’ll continue to update everyone as much as we can about Hunter, the foundation and the site .

Thanks again to everyone for their support and love!
