My prayers are with you!
Bev
please don’t give up-you are too young and strong and can beat this
Just wanted to say Hi from one Texan to another. God Bless you for your service and sacrafice.
I got word of your story thru The Soldiers Angels group I belong to. I have another young man whom I have been fallowing for some time now. We have compared his healing journey as a “roller coaster” ride. Please know there so many of us on the ride with you, lifting you up in prayer. Just know “WE CARE”!!! Would you please pass on my THANKS to the creator of this site, for giving us a way to keep up with you.
Hello, Hunter,
Thanks to caring people who surround you, and to people like Michelle Malkin who posted your background on her website, you surely know that you are a blessed man! Even though you are going through a difficult personal and physical struggle right now, you have the prayers and thoughts of so many people that lift you up to the Creator of this universe who knows all that you are going through. I read a book called “How to Live Through A Bad Day” by a minister named Jack Hayford. The statement that stood out most to me was this: “no one has ever experienced as bad a day as Jesus did when he was scourged and crucified.” The dynamics of your days may be painfully approximate but remember, you nor I nor anyone else will go through His bad day. And His bad day ended in triumph, and your bad days will too. God bless you, Hunter, and keep looking upward to your heavenly hope and you will be triumphant.

Hunter,
God bless you Hunter. I wish I could give you a hug, or hold your hand, anything at all that might let you feel that you aren’t all alone in this. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
As a person close to your age, I can only imagine how hard it is to go through these difficult changes in your life, when you probably feel like your life just began.
YOU CAN DO THIS, HUNTER!
You are strong, and I know you are loved by many.
Take it day by day. There will be good days, and crappy days — but you can get through this! You have so much left in your life to experience! There is so much LOVE and LIFE left for you, Hunter. You WILL rise above this and lead an amazing life, I just know it.
Take care Hunter, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

You met Gary Sinise-hope you enjoyed it, and will enjoy his concert
Afternoon Hunter! Man it has gotten just a wee bit cold here in Texas. Here in East Texas (Tyler area) where I am actually got a light frost/freeze last night. Sure going to be chilly for the trick-or-treaters Friday night.
You are being lifted up by so many all across this great nation. You have Soldiers Angels, Patriot Guard Riders and our local “Welcome Home Soldiers”, and many others, praying for your recovery. Just take it one day at a time, and know we “CARE”. This “Roller Coaster” has many ups and downs and bumps, but like all rides it has an end. We are there with for that ride, forever how long it takes, until you are healed by the Grace of God! Angel Hugs, Carla
Hi Hunter
Very cool that you met Gary Sinise — awesome guy. And I’m glad you had a good time!
Please know that you and your family are constantly in my thoughts and prayers these days, and that I am sending all my best wishes for your recovery. Also know that I am very grateful for your courage and your service. Best, Midori
Hi Hunter, I hope today turns out to be a good day for you. I’m holding good thoughts for you and your recovery. It sucks to be injured for long periods of time but maybe you can just think of things as one step at a time instead of being overwhelmed with the whole situation. That’s helped me out in the past going through hard times. Good luck Hunter.
Casey
Hunter,
I know you can beat this, son. Some days flat kick your butt. You will overcome this and you are not alone. Your vision may be limited but look around and listen. There are many here who will stand with you. You are not forgotten. You hear what these good people wrote? Feel that? That’s encouragement, Hunter. That’s love and concern for your fellow man. It’s directed at you. Now pick it up and run with it. If ya can’t run, then by-God crawl with it! But never give in! Some minutes are bad, some hours are bad, and some days just plain stink! Get through the bad times, Hunter. Focus on where you want to go then go one step at a time. Place one foot in front of the other and get down the road to reach that goal. It doesn’t matter if you circle the globe in 90 days or only get 1 meter down-range in that time. It is making positive progress. We are all…each and every one of us…”ALL” are pulling and praying for “YOU”. This is not just a “feel good” from a bunch of strangers. If it is then they better steer clear of me! This is a get well…a get good… for you, PFC Hunter Levine. We will not let you down. Now you do your part by fighting through the pain and uncertainty. Never let self-pity have a foothold on your life! The biggest thing that can kick your ass is discouragement. To hell with that! Yes Hunter, talk is cheap. I believe these words will help you. It’s not just talk, Hunter. It’s love. Don’t turn your back on it. Ever. Whatever happens…press on! If you have to crawl most of the way, then so be it. We’ll help push and lift you, if you can’t make it on your own today… …well…you can help us tomorrow. No one is a Superman or Superwoman here. Hunter, always remember this, when you reach out, one or more of us will be there. Army strong, Hunter. Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. You are not forgotten and I’ll do my damndest to keep my promise to you.
HOOAH!

Hey Hunter,
Just wanted to stop by before I head off to bed. Have a early and long day tomorrow. I was lucky enough to win tickets to the Dicky 500 Nascar race tomorrow. Going with a bus load of crazy (good kind) East Texans and the radio station DJ in Longview. It is going to be a blast.
Had to stop by and say hi first. Have been off line for a couple of days. Wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Angel hugs your way.
hello, it’s mindy again. tomorrow, thanks to people like you I participate in democracywish I had better choices-oh well. get better
Greetings, I just learned about you this morning and will put you on our family prayer list — and we have a lot of family. We will pass this web site along, also; it is so inspiring to know about all the people who are praying for you! We will keep in touch. Keep up the good work, and it is very hard work, we know. We thank you for all you’ve given to our country. God bless you.
Just checking in with you, Hunter. Here’s hoping you’re getting fired up about Thanksgiving!
Hi Hunter,
I honestly don’t know what to say. My Dad was a Chief Master Sgt. in the Air Force and I was brought up in a military family. Every part of me truly appreciates everything that you did and I admire you. Thank you so much for everything.
Hi Hunter…it’s Sammy…I am glad that your friend has started a website for you…it will be a great way to keep everyone updated! I will come to visit you soon…I just got moved which took some time with the babies but now that I am settled and you are settled into your new place we can set something up. We can bring you anything that you need so I will make sure to call before we come…if you EVER need anything just call me. You can get my number from T…I am close enough to get over there and I am happy to do it. Take care and hang in there…thank you for your sacrifice…Love Sammi
May God bless you, Hunter, as you undertake this journey. We at Trinity Church in Geneva, Alabama are praying for you. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hello Hunter, my name is Keith. I’m 45 years old, and I don’t know you, or do I?
I’m too old to serve now, but I’m old enough to know about some of what you’ve done for me.
You’re the one that gave me the ability to say what I want to say without asking permission.
You gave me the opportunity to work so that I can support my family well enough to enjoy them as they grow up.
You are the one that lets me enjoy hunting and fishing when and if I choose.
You are the one that lets me go to church or choose to not go to church.
You are the one that allows my kids to go to public school every day so they can grow up and have their own families.
And on and on……
So Hunter, I may have never shook your hand, seen your face, talked to you or know anything about the physical you. But I do know you.
Get well soon Hunter. And Thank You for all that you have done.
Keith
Hello Hunter,
Hope things are going well this afternoon. Sending well wishes and Angel Hugs your way.
So glad to hear you’re back in Texas, Hunter!
I’m sure “home soil” will help to lift your spirits.
You are a true hero. And prayers for your recovery are being said daily all across this nation you have so bravely fought for.
I will continue to keep tabs on you and keep you close to my heart. Michele
Hi Hunter,
Thank you for your sacrifice as an American soldier. You are truly a HERO. Without people like you and my son-in-law, our country would not be what it is. My son-in-law was injured critally by a IED in Afganistan, last week. He is currently at Bethesda in the Naval Hospital. Prayer changes everything, and we truly believe he will live and overcome his injuries. What the devil intended for evil, we believe God will use for good. I believe the same in your case. Please remember that there are people praying for you, and with GOD all things are possible. Just keep the FAITH, and know you have a bright future ahead of you. Stay strong and don’t quit!!! The devil loves quitters. Thanks again, Hunter, for all you’ve done and for all you’ve given. We love our soldiers!!!!
Just a Army Mother-in-law
Hi Hunter. My name is Dena Yllescas. You don’t know me but my mom came across your website the other day. My husband was severely injured by an IED in Afghanistan 11 days ago. He is still unconscious and has lost both his legs. Throughout this whole tragedy, thousands of friends, family, and perfect strangers have been praying for his recovery. I am absolutely amazed and humbled by the response. The power of prayer is amazing. I want you to know that you are also in my prayers. Although we don’t know why this happened, all we can do is find comfort in knowing God has a plan for us. You are a true American hero and I want you to know that you have a very special place in my heart. May God bless you and wrap comforting arms around you!!!
I am Rob Yllescas’ mom. My heart and prayers go out to you. Please hang in there. We don’t know why these things happen but I know that God will be by your side and not send you more than you can handle. YOu have a right to feel angry but don’t let it consume you. I wish that I could send you a big hug and kiss. Life will get better, I promise you. My son is still in ICU and we continue to ask for prayers. Please remember him in your prayers and we will rem. you in ours also.

Hey, Hunter–Greetings from Nebraska! I just heard of your injuries from a fellow Nebraskan’s blog whose husband was severely injured October 28 in Afghanistan. I just want you to know that as a Mom and Grandma I so appreciate the daily sacrifices you and your comrades and your families make to provide us with the freedoms we enjoy and too often take for granted! Always remember that God will NEVER give you more than you can handle and there is so much POWER in prayer! Hit your knees and give your cares to Jesus and He will give you peace and healing. He has a very special plan for you–it will be so exciting to see it unfold! Please know that people all over this great country are praying for you and sending their love. Take care and get well! Love & prayers–Jackie & Joe
Hunter,
We were led to your site by the mother in law of a young man who was also injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for your service.
Mitch and Vicki from Lincoln, Nebraska
Please know that you are not alone. Everyone is sending you all of their hopes and positive energy and it’s because you matter!
We all are rooting for you to beat this and to get back on your feet. It is a miracle you are here, so use it as a blessing to help others.
I am a military spouse and I volunteer at the Andrews AFB Fisher House. I was paralyzed for 3 months when I was 18 and they thought I would never recover. I am now 34 and recovered over 95% of my senses, including my eyesight. One of my favorite quotes that helped me through my time came from Confucius: “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop”
Live it, breath it……soon you will believe it.
With Love,
Nancy
Hi Hunter - There are lots of people out here praying for you (spreading prayer needs quickly is one of the best things about the internet.) I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your service and for your sacrifice. You are a TRUE hero. I am praying for you as you continue on - God’s love for you is endless and unwavering and He delights in you as His child. You will be in my prayers and in my heart. May each day bring an unexpected blessing into your heart and life.

Hi Hunter!
I am an Army mom and found out about you through another wounded soldiers family. First, I want to THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. Just saying that doesn’t seem near adaquate enough. I mean it whole heartedly, you are a Hero to me. I am praying for your recovery. Hang in there and get better.

Hunter,
Thank you so much for your service and sacrifice for our country. You are a true hero. Please know that total strangers are uplifting you in prayer. I’m one of them. My niece referred readers of her blog to your site. Her husband, Army Cpt Rob Yllescas, was critically injured the end of October in Afghanistan.

Your in my thoughts and prayers, Hunter. I know you have the strength and courage to keep fighting. Please don’t give…we will never give up on you!!!
PFC Hunter Levine,
I want to thank you so very much for serving this great nation and placing your life on the line. I am thankful that you are here with us yet, and will be here with us for a very long time.
I know the moments that come when you feel like you just can’t go on. They’re very dark moments. You want to just curl up and tell everyone to go to hell.. leave ya alone. That’s ok. Those moments come, but they also pass. You have many gifts to give to this world, some of them known and others yet to be discovered and shared with the rest of the world. Take baby steps. Take the moment to feel crappy, then let it pass. Give it wings to soar away. It does get better. Share the load with your friends and family. You fought for our country and now it’s time for us to fight for you. We are all behind you.
Thank you very much for your service. I am so grateful.
Sincerely,
Theresa O’Neill

You are a hero! Thank you for your service. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. You are in my prayers.
Huter-just take one day at a time Today might really suck, but you never know about tomorrow. Just get through the shitty days, and keep hopeful that tomorrow will bring better news, or a friend to visit, some awesome new music, a nice breeze, the smell of rain…there are SO MANY things that you can enjoy about this world. Focus on whatever brings you some pleasure- no matter how small. You were brave enough to go to war for your country, you can get through your recovery! I’ll be looking for updates on your site! Roseann (My brother is in the Middle East too)
HI, We do not know you, yet we are so proud of you. Hang in there and know everyone loves you.

Hi Hunter,
I heard about you from someone who is going through a similar situation with her husband. He was wounded in Afganistan. He lost both legs and is currently in a coma.
I cannot imagine what you are going through. I’m sure that at 20 years old, the prospect of going through life with your injuries is just too much to bear. I hope you can find the will to realize that the person you were and are is still there inside of you. The people who know and love you can see that already….now you just have to believe it!!!!
I owe you so much. Thank you for being willing to go to war so that me and my family can live in peace and prosperity. You are remarkable and I am so sorry you got terribly hurt in the process.
I will be praying for your recovery everyday. I know with God’s help and your friends and family you WILL find a way to overcome this and go on to lead a full and happy life. You are just to young to give up. Try to stay strong and know that a world of people are pulling for you.
Hey Hunter,
I just wanted to start with a BIG THANK YOU for you service in the military. You are an awesome young man and you will get through this. It will be a long hard road, but you will make it! I know you will..thanks again
Stay strong
Debbie
Dear Hunter, I wanted to say hello, nice to meet you. Please accept my humble thanks for your service to our country. I am praying for your continued healing. Sending you many angel hugs, Carla, Soldiers Angels
Hunter, I found out about your story from another wounded warrior. Please know how proud we are of you and how we stand next to you, all around you. You are going through the true fight for your life right now, but you WILL be victorious. You will have happiness at the other end of this. You have to get through this now, and it totally sucks, but you can do this. You will look back at this time and think, remember when it was so hard for me to see that I’d ever feel happy again. I can only imagine how you are feeling, I can’t know firsthand. But what I do know is that you are a warrior and will conquer this mission; that you will have success and love and happiness.
You have the love and prayers of people all over the world. You might have to do the hard work yourself, but you are not in this by yourself.
God is watching over you. God bless you!
Hunter-
I know how hard recovery can be, but you have to keep going one day at a time. My husband was wounded in Iraq in January 2008. It takes a long time to recover from the physical wounds, but the emotional ones last the longest.keep moving forward, find new ways to live and realize that there are people, family out there to support and help you. Take advantage of that!
good luck and godspeed.

Hunter,
Please know that we here at Ft. Bragg are praying for your recovery and that you are thought about daily. Take your time, healing takes time.
My friend Dena referred me to your website. I cannot comprehend the struggles you go through on a day-to-day basis. Whenever you feel down, please remember there are others thinking and praying for you..to raise you up in body and spirit. I thank you for your selfless military service. God bless.
Hi Hunter,
As a former Texan and mom of a 24 yr old son who
is an Army veteran and now in the Reserves, I
want to thank you for your sacrifice for our
great country. You are our hero and we send our
love and prayers for your recovery. I know you have a tremendous life ahead of you and
that God will give you continued strength and
hope for each new day. Your future holds so
many more awesome adventures, hang in there Hunter!
Hunter,
I want to tell you how much I appreciate you and everything you have gone through. I know that there is no way that I can really understand how you feel without being there myself, but I want you to know that I am thinking and praying for you. My husband is Active Duty Army and I know that he would consider you like a brother as well.
I have a couple of video clips I thought might encourage you. I hope that someone can bring a laptop and play them so that you can listen. These clips are of a man named Nick Vujicic. He was born without arms or legs, and had a hard time coming to terms with it when he was a kid. He is now in his 20’s and is such an inspiring example of God’s ability to help and encourage someone. Nick is great at encouraging others and I thought you might appreciate what he has to say.
I will be praying for you. God bless you, Hunter! You are not forgotten by us, and never by God. He has a plan for you - always remember that.
Take care,

We appreciate all that you and your fellow servicemen are doing for us. We pray for a speedy return for all of you to home and family.
God will help you get through this difficult time in your life. Many faithful prayers are going out for speedy recovery. Don’t give up hope!
Hunter:
You are in our prayers!
Thank you for your service to our Nation.
Your story has touched so many people who want you to know that they’re pulling for you!!!
God Bless you, and Hang in there!!!!!
Hi Hunter, the family of military supporters stretches all across this wonderful country that you bravely fought for. I send packages to the husband of Lacy that posted earlier and thru a blog about his injured friend I learned about you. I am always humbled by you warriors and your willingness to sacrifice for all the freedoms we enjoy. I no longer take any of them for granted, I feel blessed every day to have been born an American, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to preserve those freedoms.
I know it’s easy for us to say be strong when it’s you that has to do it, but just know we sincerely care about you and wish you God’s speed in your recovery. Hugs and prayers from Oregon
Hello Hunter.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Praying for your continued healing.
Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
God Bless.
Hunter, thank you so much for serving our country - because of brave young people like yourself, we can go to bed tonight knowing our country is safer - we can fly our flag, we can go where we want without worry of terror, because of soldiers like yourself.
We cannot thank you enough, for this country’s freedom and your service.
God bless and keep you!
Hi Hunter! You don’t know me, and I don’t know you, but I wanted to write you and say hello, along with a huge “THANK YOU” for your bravery and heroism. Someone else wrote about how you have so many friends yet to be met, and I completely agree with that. I am only 7 years older than you so I do not have a lot of “words of wisdom” but I will say that my life at 20 was much different for me than my life now, I think that holds true for everyone. There are a lot of adventures and experiences yet to be had! There are so many people from all across the country (I live in Northern California) who are rooting for you and care about you and who are invested in your progress and healing, and who are sending support and love and all the best wishes from their hearts to yours.
Hi Hunter,
I just wanted to let you know that you are a HERO in my book and i know times get rough but keep fighting you are doin amazing my prayers are with you and your family
I hear you will be 21 soon HAPPY BIRTHDAY
god bless you!!
Hunter,
I just wanted to let you know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many people who value who you are and what you have done for our country. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Our country is a safe and secure place because of you and your fellow soldiers. I know you are feeling like you have a very long road ahead of you but always remember that God will help you walk it, one step, one day at a time. I was asked to pass along a joke to you from a small friend of mine, he wanted to send you a laugh because he heard that laughter is the best medicine this last week when he was sick. His joke is:
Q: Why can’t Batman go fishing?
A: Because Robin eats all the worms!
I’m sure he will come up with more for you too, hope you will be able to take it!
Hi Hunter,
Our prayers are with you. Thank you for your service to our country. You are a hero!! God bless you.
Dear Hunter,
I am a friend of the Yllescas family. I wanted to send you my deepest gratitude for your willingness to put yourself in harm’s way so we might enjoy the freedoms we have in this country. As others have commented several times, you are truly a HERO. GOD BLESS YOU!!!
You will have struggles ahead, but the LORD is faithful and He will see you through. He, (Immanuel-God with us) will never leave you nor forsake you. You are worthy of so much more than words, which seem to fall short. Just know that we will continue to lift you up in prayer.
“For I know the plans I have for you, saith the Lord; plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
Hunter,
Good day to you! I am a friend of your moms and your Aunt Theresa’s. Theresa and I are in Xanadu together.
I am told that you are one brave and strong willed young man. I try to keep up with your progress and hope that you are doing well. Remember how blessed we all are to wake up every day and what a God given gift it is. I realize you are going through your own struggles but know that God truly doesn’t give us more than we can handle. And for some reason he has other special things in store for you. So, please know that I am praying for you wish you a very Happy Birthday on November 13.

Hi, Hunter.
I’m friends with your Aunt Theresa; we’re in Xanadu
together (a ladies’ Mardi Gras krewe in Lafayette.)
We have gotten reports about you along the way, but I wanted to send you a very Happy Birthday wish today, since I’ll be out of town on the 13th.
I will never know what you have gone through, or will go through. All I know is that I am in your debt. Thank you for your service to all of us and your country. We appreciate you more than you know. My Dad fought in WW II in the Marines, and I grew up appreciating the military. We owe so much to you.
Hunter, please remember that many people are keeping you close in prayer. We are all pulling for you.
Take care, and Happy Birthday. Eat some cake for me!
May God bless you.
From a stranger comes thanks for all that you have done and given for your country and its citizens.
Our paths often lead us into the unknown and things happen we don’t understand. Yet even when we are at our lowest if we hold on to our faith, family, friends and even strangers..although it may be hard..we will make it through it.
So, please know this–this stranger is lifting you up in prayer and wishing you a very happy birthday.
Dear Hunter
Please know that you are a great source of pride and humility to all of us. There is no way we can know what you are going through but we want you to know that we are praying for you and wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Debbie from Lafayette, LA
Hi Hunter, I heard a bunch of good things from your Aunt Theresa. We are Xanadu sisters in Lafayette, LA. I have a son and daughter in law whom are Staff Sgts in the Air Force stationed in Yokota, Japan for the next 2 yrs. Their family of 2 sons are with them and they have been there for 1 yr so far. So I get email are how they are doing. So I know and understand your plight & challenges in some small way. Just know you are remembered & loved and if you speak to God to heal like we are all praying for you.Divine interventions happen everyday. My friend Donnie was in a coma for 3 months this summer and we never knew if he was to live. His artea-main valve to his heart broke off his heart for no reason. He survived thru everyone praying individually for him.The Doctors say it was a mircale no surgery was ever done - praying for him to heal. It worked all of our prays. Nowadays, we have wonderful doctors and medical knowledge that have learned before you with the miracle of prayer how God has ways of healing each one of us in our special needs in life. You maybe are being an instrument of God showing us how pray and patience with send us to another level. So talk to God and visit with him in between your trials of getting better. Always know Rome wasn’t built over night. Besides, tomorrow is Veteran’s Day and thanks for being a soldier you are one of the special ones that everyone will pray for.Stay focused and don’t get discouraged you just might have to work double time learning how to hold a beer in your hand -LOL! Motivation What! Just know, everyone is praying for you & believe in you. How many people can say this-right! You survived Boot Camp that was tough time. So know prays are around you.
Again thanks for being a brave and strong soldier. When you get stronger make sure you go to a Xanadu Ball - about 235 women will be hugging and kissing you. What man would deny that challenge! Bye Jennifer
Hi Hunter,
I know your Aunt Theresa and I just heard about your injury. I am a gold star mom and we lost our soldier in March last year. It sucks. I do know that letters and emails kept us going and actually still do, through hard times. You may never know how many people truly care and are praying for you and your recovery, but I can tell you it is in the tens of thousands, if not more.
That is pretty cool, huh?
I was born and raised in Conroe. The Woodlands were not even there, in fact it was horse farming country then. The Spring kids had to come to Conroe High School. Shoot, the closest school that played us in football was Memorial and the coaches would tell their players not to drink any of that Conroe “werter”… so they brought their own! My brothers would go to Camp Strake(?) which is right about where the Woodlands begins, for all their boyscout stuff. I wanted to be a boy just so I could go to Camp Strake and swim in the lake.
Ahhh those were the days… when everyone walked miles to school uphill both ways in the snow.
Hunter, life is hard, and this battle will test your courage. How you handle this battle will not define you, but give you strength and a depth of understanding you never asked for. Somehow, you will make it. You will “get it”, you will grow. And others will be blessed by your courage and strength of character.
I am cheering for you. God Bless.
Kim
Hang in there Hunter. Thank you for all that you have done! Happy Early Birthday!!!!
Keep smiling!
Hi Hunter,
As a Vietnam Veteran I am sending you a message to thank you for your sacrifice you have made for our country and to wear your Purple Heart with pride. One of my heroes passed away this year on D-Day, a Marine veteran named Jack Lucas and also was a true hero. I was fortunate to meet Jack a few years ago, he was a guest speaker to Vietnam Veterans event in Jackson, Mississippi. Jack Lucas was the youngest soldier (age 17)to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor and wrote a book about his herioic acts on Iwo Jima called “Indestructible”. Jack Lucas is an inspiration to all military service men and veterans and you are also an inspiration. My wife and I send you our love and prayers to you and your family in your recovery. (my wife, Cathy, is in the Krewe of Xanadu, Lafayette, LA).
Happy Birthday, Hunter.

Hunter,
We wanted to wish you a very happy 21st birthday! Also, we wanted to send you our best wishes for a full recovery. We were referred to your site from a Nebraskan soldier’s wife that is fighting his own battles after being injured in late October.
We pray for you and all of the nation’s troops. You hold such a special place in our hearts for doing “your job.” Thank you for what you’ve done for our country and for all that you stand for.
Take care of yourself and know that there are thousands of people praying for you.
Sincerely,
Todd & Carlie Davidson ~~Nebraskans
Hi hunter.
I thought you might like to hear about something other than the hospital etc. I wanted to tell you that we have a ton of animals … a farm really!

Happy veterans day and thanks for serving-good luck in life
HI HUNTER,
THANK YOU FOR GIVING SO GREATLY TO KEEP ME SAFE. I UNDERSTAND THE DIFFULCTIES YOU ARE HAVING. TWELVE YEARS AGO I WAS IN A CAR WRECK THAT BROKE MY NECK AND PARALYSED ME FROM THE CHEST DOWN. IT’S HARD TO GO FROM WOW TO OW IN SECONDS. I DON’T LIKE WHAT HAPPENED, BUT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS DIDN’T CARE THAT I COULDN’T SIT UP OR FEED MYSELF OR BRUSH MY TEETH WITHOUT HELP, THEY JUST WANTED ME WITH THEM. SOMETIMES YOUN HAVE TO KEEP ON GIVING. YOUR FAMILY LOVES YOU AND I HOPE YOU CAN FIND THAT INNER WELL TO STAY STRONG AND CONTINUE TO RECIEVE THE LOVE YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND GOD WANT TO GIVE TO YOU.
GOD BLESS YOU IN YOUR TIME OF NEEDS. IT WILL GET BETTER; IT MIGHT NOT BE THE SAME, BUT NOTHING IN LIFE IS. KARIN
Hi Hunter,
Today is veteran’s day. I am going to Fatima to tell they how you are doing. They love you so much! All your former teachers can’t wait to hug you.

Hi Hunter,
Thank you for all you’ve done for our country and our freedom. We can never repay you. Wishing you a peaceful Veterans Day! May God encourage you to keep on! God brought you back to us for a reason, hang on! Know he has a plan for you. Thank you again for your service!
Thanks for what you do. I hope and pray that you recover quickly.
Lord, hold Hunter in your loving hands. Protect Hunter as he protected us. Bless Hunter and his family for their selfless acts they performed for us in our time of need. Amen.
Hey Hunter. I hope to hear about you soon! I am still praying for both my brother and you. hang in there and take it day by day. Every emotion you are going through is normal, just don’t let anger consume you. Don’t allow the enemy to win. We all really and truly care about you.
Your unknown friends in Nebraska, formerly from Houston
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. ~ Albert Schweitzer
I thank you, you have given so much to so many and you inspire me to live a selfless life. I will not forget you and I will ask in my prayers that God enlighten you as well. Allow Him to show you how great you really are. You are greater than you will ever know. You will be in my prayers.
Hello Hunter:
You don’t know me and I don’t know you. But, I know enough to love you for what you’re going through. I don’t understand what’s going on around us and this has made me dig deep into myself and find what gives me hope. I know it’s all so hard to understand when your life is changed the way yours has been, but faith tells me that if you dig into yourself, you’ll find what will give you hope. It’s all part of God’s master plan and out of the deepest despair comes the highest good. You are not suffering in vain. Know that.
And, one more thing - thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to our Country.
Sandra
You are a remarkable, brave young man and you are such an inspiration to others. Never forget, God will use you in a mighty way. You are in my thoughts and prayers on this Veteran’s Day and also tomorrow, on your birthday.
Hi Hunter,
I wanted you to know that my family is thinking of you. Thank you for your services to us and our country. We are very proud of you. Don’t give up! Therapy is tough but it will pay off so keep it up.
Brandy (OT)

Hunter,
Thank you for all you did for our country. You are so brave and have sacrificed so much. I hope that you have a great 21st birthday. I wish you a speedy recovery and only good things in your life. Please know that people everywhere are thinking of you. Happy birthday!
Amanda
Hello Hunter-
T has kept me informed of your progress since the day your life was turned upside down. It is hard for me to grasp what you are going through, and can only believe that God has a very special plan for you! You know Mark had a hard time dealing with his loss of sight too- yet once he accepted that fact, his eyes could “see” so much more than T or I ever could. His awareness of the world around him was at such an elevated level that he “saw” things that our plain old eyes could only dream of seeing. The light of his spirit was so visible that we were awed! And you can do this too! As Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. Think about this. Let is sink in. It is so true.
Hunter, you are a beautiful young man with your whole life ahead of you. If not for your courage and bravery, more lives would have been lost. Your instantaneous, selfless actions proved that you can do anything you choose to do. So your life is way different than you imagined. There is obviously something that you are supposed to do, that would not be accomplished if you didn’t go through this experience. There’s a Chinese Proverb that says “A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials”. You are being perfected! So hang in there. I know you’ll get through the ups and downs and eventually “see” where you are going.
Thank you for your service to this great country and the sacrifices you’ve had to make. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love you,
Lisa
Happy Veterans Day Hunter…thank you for your sacrifice…..Sammie

Hunter, my thoughts and prayers are with you. May God give you the strength each and every day to recover to your fullest. God bless and thank you for fighting for our country.
Dear Hunter,
My wife and I are 62 years old, and its likely that we’ll never meet you face to face. Still, I wanted you to know that the older we get, the more we value the freedoms that we used to take for granted as Americans. With the current situation in our country and the world today, I am more grateful than ever for the sacrifices that you have made for me. Although you face challenges, I pray that you will lean on the love of your family and friends, but more than that, I pray that you will lean on the love of Jesus, who died on your behalf and mine. He can and will meet your deepest needs.
Hi Hunter,
You are brave and so honorable. We appreciate your loyalty to our country. Prayers and people’s spirit are so strong. You should feel that constantly as there are so many pulling for you.

Next, I want to wish you an early Happy Birthday. I know it may not seem like much but let’s thank god that each and every day is a new one for you. You will have challenges and he will guide you through each of them. Please keep your head strong in the Lord and each day will be a bright one.

Thank you for defending my country and my loved ones-while I sat here all cozy at home.
You are the heart and soul of what makes this country so great. I hope that you will have a fantastic birthday tomorrow-Hey, you will be old enough to drink a tall one. I will toast you tomorrow!

Hook-um Horns!
I JUST WANT TO OFFER SOME WORDS OF ENCORAGMENT. PLEASE STAY STRONG FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY. I AM THE MOTHER OF TWO US ARMY SOLDIERS THAT HAVE RECENTLY RETURNED FROM THE WAR IN IRAQ. I AM LUCKY AND SO ARE THEY, NOT TOO MUCH PERMANENT DAMAGE. MY SON JOHN WILL NEED SOME SURGERY TO CORRECT SOME INJURIES. HE IS BLIND IN ONE EYE. I STILL FEEL WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES. I KNOW OF OTHERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN SO LUCKY. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR BRAVERY, SACRIFICE AND SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. WITHOUT MEN LIKE YOU OUR COUNTRY WOULD NOT BE WHAT IT IS TODAY. I AM SO PROUD OF ALL THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE THIS GREAT NATION WE LIVE IN. PLEASE STAY STRONG AND FEEL BETTER SOON. THANK YOU!
ARMYMOMOFTWINS
Good Morning Hunter. I hope this day finds you a little bit better. Happy late Vets day from one Vet to another. I was in the Marines for 4 years. Thank you so much for your service.
Hunter,
I too served in Iraq and I was wounded while leading a mission in southern Baghdad on April 18th, 2006. However, my wounds were insignificant when I think what you have persevered through. Your courage and fortitude is an example to us all who served in Iraq. On a day of such significance as Veterans Day, I can’t help but think of others more than myself. For my sacrifice feels insignificant compared to you and many of the brave soldiers I served with throughout the years.
I pray for you and your family.
SSG Nicholas Morgan
Hi Hunter: I just wanted to tell you Happy Birthday! Today is a wonderful day because of you. I hope you have a good day and always know how much you mean to me for fighting for our freedom. You are a special, special person for fighting for your fellow Americans. God bless and keep you always. (I am a friend of Teresa’s and pray for you every day.)
Your friend, Kris Manuel-Sparks
Hello Hunter, even though we have never met, I do know a family member of yours, who is very special to all of us at Xanadu and so are you for being so brave by joining the troops to defend our freedom that we take for granted. My thoughts and prayers are with you and remember there are lots of people who care about you and your family in these diffuclt times and hoping you can find that silver lining that you so deserve during your recovery. Happy 21st Birthday and when you are in Lafayette would love to meet you.
Hi Hunter……I heard about you from a friend here in Lafayette, La. and wanted to wish you a happy birthday and say thank you for your service to your country. I too served in the military during the Vietnam war….in the infantry…but served with the “The Old Guard” honor guard at Fort Meyer , Virginia. It was an honor to serve my country…..but I owe my freedom to people like you who have served our country to protect our freedom. Yesterday….veterans day….we attempted to thank those veterans who served our country. We need to thank you every day….not just once a year. Please have the faith to know things will be better in the future. We will pray for you and your family.
Hi Hunter,
You don’t know me but I am a friend of Theresa Smith. She is one of the kindest and most giving people I know. From what I have heard of you, it appears y’all are cut from the same quality material.
I know you have given a lot and have been through so much in the past months. Every day I pray that your burden and pain are lightened.
In the words of M.L.King, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” You have stood tall and strong. I hope you realize just how strong you are and know that you can climb this mountain of challenges.
I understand your birthday is tomorrow, Nov 13th. I hope you realize that many people, including me, are very glad you were born.
You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!
I’m from Lafayette also.
heyy hunter-
i’m lauren, i’m 14 and from lafayette, louisiana. I got this website from one of your mom’s friends, carol groth? yeah. Well, anyways tonight i heard your story. And even though it seems like the absolute worst possible thing to happen in your life, theres a reason it happened. Maybe, the reason this happened was to help to realize your calling in life. I dont really know. But i deeply hope that your going to be okay. And just know that you have so many people that love you.
Any ways getting off the subject,
Happy Birthday!
i’ll be think about you, and i hope that you get better!
(:laurenfogle
Dear Mr. Levine,
I hope you don’t mind me calling you by mister, i don’t want to make you feel old, you’re only half a decade older than myself, it’s just that i feel you deserve that respect and more. A lady who goes to my church whom is a friend of your mother’s, i believe, mentioned you to me and that tomorrow, or perhaps it was today, is your twenty-first birthday. So, first off, happy birthday! Besides that, she mentioned your sacrifices for our country. I want you to know that i admire and look up to your way of commitment and bravery. Though you may not serve our country the way you used to, you still serve it in the army of brave souls who sacrificed everything to protect our country and what it stands for, and your duty is to be a role model to those who look up to people like yourself. You’ve done an outstanding job, don’t ever give up or surrender.
With thanks, love, and sincerity,
James Frank

I must thank you for the sacrifice that you made for me, my family and our country. I am honored to know you! Please know that you are in my prayers as well as so many others who care about you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUNTER:
I am a friend of your Aunt Theresa’s friend, Carol Groth. I grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana though I have lived in New Orleans most of my adult life. I have been blessed to experience many journeys in my soon to be 56 years. There were a handful that required my digging real deep.
I send my very best wishes for you to keep digging real deep too. A dear friend reminds me from time to time that this too shall come to pass. When we hang in there long enough a whole lot of things come to pass.
Believe in the magic of this wonderful life. Celebrate your 21 years on this day. Smile that you have a good story to tell. Thank you for your service and your sacrifices. Know in your heart you will heal.
Have a wonderful birthday.
Love & Kindness, Debra
Hi, Hunter. Thank you so much for defending our country. You are in our prayers and in our hearts. Remember, even though times may be hard, you are never alone. You can turn to God and His son, and know that He is behind you. Feel his arms hugging you. Our church and our families are uplifting you and your family in prayer. May the Source of Peace comfort you during this (and all) times.

Dear Hunter,
Our Son Dimitri is serving his second year in the USMC Air Wing. We are proud of you as we are of him.
What most people don’t know about Dimitri is that he has an amazing past and is an overcomer. Born in Russia, Dimitri was raised in an abusive home until the age of 8, at which time he was hospitalzied and then sent to live in an orphanage. We met him there at the orphanage at the age of 14. Some months later, we committed to adopting him.
Shortly after 9/11 and his 15th birthday, we traveled to Russia to bring him home. What none of us knew was how difficult this transition would be. Here he was, in a foreign land, forced to let go of his past, his friends, his language and everything he knew. He was overwhelmed with new sights, sounds, people and the love of a new family.
Dimitri had to learn a whole new set of survival skills. How to read, write and communicate all over again. Add to that the challenges of being a teenager, and you can imagine the struggles he had.
After being with us for only four years, he informed us that he was becoming a U.S. Marine. His announcement created mixed emotions within us. While we were proud of him for becoming so American that he wanted to serve his country, we were heartbroken that we were loosing him already.
Boy were we wrong! After a year in the Marines we have overcome our own loss and are rejoicing in the fact that our son is proudly fulfilling his duties and taking his responsibilities seriously.
What we first felt was loss, has now become gain.
The same will be said of your life. You have served your country and family by fulfilling your duties as a soldier. Do not loose hope! God has a plan for you and will help you overcome just as our son has.
None of us know what tomorrow will bring, but the one thing we can be certain of is that God has a plan for us. (Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.)
If you would like to hear more about Dimitri, have someone read you this article:

We are proud of you.
Lean on God for your strength.

Hunter,
Congratulations on making it back to Texas. I know it’s been a long journey with many more mountains to climb….but you’re a determined (and stubborn, so I’m told by your aunt) young man…so keep on keeping on! Happy No. 21. I know we all wish that we can give you big hugs, so consider them sent through this email. I do hope you are given permission to come to Theresa’s house for Thanksgiving, wow what a feast it will be. As we count our blessings on this day and Thanksgiving, know that you’re in our continued prayers and support. Have a great birthday and may all your wishes come true.

Know and understand a difficult time for all. pray for strength to get thru each day no matter what comes our way.We lost a son in a tragic car accident 6 years ago and only from support of family, friends and faith and prayer have we been able to go on, and the same will be for you. God bless. Mary, navy mom
Hunter,
Happy Birthday Hunter! 21 is a milestone birthday. I wanted to share a personal story of my 23 year old son Joel with you. Joel was hurt in a car accident when he was 19 years old. He came home in a wheel chair after spending six months in the hospital. Most of those days, were days that I can’t remember how we got made it to the next day because they were tough. I remember praying to God for Joel’s life but also praying for God to fast forward us into a better time. I can honestly say even today it is hard to look back but I do because God’s sovereign hand was in every single moment of each day.
The character that it takes to get through something as hard as what Joel has gone through and what you are going through is amazing.
My point in sharing this story with you is because in Psalm 139 it tells us that all of our days are before the Lord, long before one ever passes. What I have seen in my owns son’s journey is that when God design him he knew that Sept. 10, 2004, would be the day Joel’s life changed forever BUT as he created Joel he knew of that day. So as he created Joel that design that he choose was one that could handle and endure the days that Joel would spentd in the wheelchair . Tough fibers created by God. At God who knows everything about his children. Hunter, this in itself makes me so proud that Joel, my other children (Logan and Taylor) and myself are all God’s chosen children.
I would never tell you that all days are easy because that would not be the truth but what I can tell you is that, my son Joel is alive. I did not physically or mentally bury him. Praise God! Although, his legs and some of his upper body are not working like they used to, he is the most able body quadrapelegic that I have ever met. His spirit is amazingly strong and each day God equips him for that day. Just as God does for you and I, his children.
What I have also realized is that in many ways we are all handicapped more than Joel but his is so apparent because it is physical. Ours are sometimes hidden because they are mental. Today, Joel is my hero. He amazes me because he is.
Hunter, the only reason that Joel is, is because of our heavenly Father that gives him strength for the day. I pray that you will have the same quiet strength that can only come from God.
Laying down was never a choice for Joel, I have worked to hard as his parent to teach his about life and I would never let that be a choice for him and so by spending a lot of time on my knees is mandatory. Praying for Gods blessing in the most difficut situtation is essential.
The hardest thing for me to have done did not happen. I did not have to bury my son that day and because Joel is still here with me today I truly feel like I am very blessed. Joel also knows that he is blessed. God has big plans for Joel. He will someday share his story of hope, character and strength. Each of those things have developed him more during this personal struggle. The bible tells us that sometimes we are test and tried even sent through the fire to be refined. Sounds tough and it is BUT when you choose God plan there is ALWAYS beauty in the ashes. May God bless this very special 21st birthday and if you do nothing else today, please read Psalm 139. I know that you will feel blessed. Hunter, I will pray for you. Like my son Joel, you too have been set apart and chosen for something very special. You are a child of the King! Have a blessed day, Robyn Cummins (Joels mom)
Hey, Hunter!
We’re happy to hear that the great state of Texas is going to treat you well. They have good folks there, and good medical people, too.
Yes, there will be down times, but we hope the good times get regular soon. And when you are good to go, know that you will be welcome in any Blue Star home across America, especially mine in North Carolina!
You are in our prayers!

First of all, Happy Birthday Hunter. My family and I can never thank you enough for your sacrifice. I left the message below in another area of the website, and realize this may get a quicker response. . . .
I have heard that Hunter is a fan of the Houston Rockets. I’ve made contact with a member of the organization who would like to do something special for Hunter. I’ve given him the address; however, it would be more easily accomplished if I had a phone number and contact name so that arrangements can be made.
Thanks and all the best to Hunter.

Happy birthday

God may have given us eyes to see, but people take things so literally. to see means to comprehend, to appreciate, and to understand. your sacrifice is not overlooked or forgotten, and never will be. this is merely a bump in the road. stay strong! you are in our thoughts and prayers. have a wonderful 21st birthday. for every bad thing, there are 5 good.

Happy Belated Birthday Hunter! We met at the VA in Palo Alto (we brought you the frog windchime) and I wanted to let you know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers daily since that day. I have 3 boys and like I told you, one is still over in Iraq right now. He asked me to tell you that he is praying for you too. I really wanted to give you a hug that day but I didn’t want to hurt you by squeezing you too hard! So, here is a “virtual” hug from me and mine. My granddaughters asked me to tell you Happy Birthday too, and we will be sending over a little something that was made for you by one of their Kindergarten classes. Many happy days are ahead of you and although the road may not be easily travelled, remember you are never on it alone. Thank you for being you, we are sending love and light your way daily. Julie (Mamaw)
Can someone please tell us how Hunter is doing from day to day?this young man is very special along with many others who are going through similar circumstances and we really care how he is coming along.
Army mom from Washington St.
My young friend– I write to you, a young warrior, as I am an old warrior from a couple of generations ago. Those of us like you and I who have been there realize that peace and freedom for others are only purchased with the pain and blood of those who stand in the time of need. Some pay a greater price than others to guarantee peace and freedom for those who remain behind. You have paid, and continue to pay a great price, and there will be many who will never know your name, and who will never thank you. That is the way it is with soldiers.
However, I thank you as have so many others, and my wife and I will continue to pray for you, in your physical recovery, and in having the peace which comes from understanding that you have paid a price which others were not willing or able to pay, and in doing so you purchased freedoms which others would not or could not purchase.
May God bless you in all of the days to come, and raise you up strong and proud.

Hunter,
I can’t thank you enough for the sacrifices you’ve made in keeping America safe. There is no love greater than the love that you’ve given everyone living in America and those you’ve freed in Iraq. Hunter, never ever give up. You may not realize how many hearts you’ve touched and how many churches are praying for you right now. You are my hero, you are a warrior. Listen very carefully to these words, they are written for you in the blood of Christ.
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Psalm 50:15 “And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
Hi Hunter,
I know the weather has been stormy, but guess what, it can’t for ever! Think positive, be strong. Of all the battles you’ve been in, this one will be your toughest, but this one too, you can defeat! You have plenty of people praying for you. We all appreciate what you and the rest of the service members sacrifice. I am a marine wife, I am very aware of these sacrifices and once again, we thank you.
Hugs to you and good wishes.
Valerie
Hi Hunter,
The Best healing I know comes from God so,here are some healing Scriptures.
Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
and healing shall spring up quickly.
Isaiah 58:8
Who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that
we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness, by
whose stripes we were healed.
I Peter 2:24
He sent his word, and healed them, and
delivered them from their destructions.
Psalm 107:20
Daughter your faith has made you well, go in peace,
And be Healed of your disease.
Mark 5:34
Whatever you ask for in Prayer with faith you will receive.
Matthew 21:22
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the
Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight,
and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes,
I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have
brought upon the Eqyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
Exdous 15:26
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.
Psalm 103:3
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst
of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them
and health to all their flesh.
Proverbs 4:20-22
But he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised
for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
Heal me, O Lord and I shall be healed; save me,
and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise.
Jeremiah 17:14
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds,
saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying,
This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
Jeremiah 30:17
But unto you that fear my name, shall the Sun of righteousnes
arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and
grow up as calves of the stall.
Maclachi 4:2
For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh,
findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.
Matthew 8:8
And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages,
teaching in the synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom
, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Matthew 9:35
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing,
it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick
and they shall recover.
Mark 16:18
And the whole multitude sought to touch him for there went
virtue out of him, and healed them all.
Luke 6:19
Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever.
Hebrews 13:8
Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the chruch; and let them pray over him,
annointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and
the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have
committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another pray one
for another that ye may be healed. The effectual
fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:14-15-16
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Hi Hunter,
Thank you so much for what you have done for our Country. Know that you are so loved and respected. My Prayers and thoughts are with you. I know you will get better. God Bless you!
Love,
Christine
WOOOT!
21 huh? Maybe one day I’ll see you out somewhere and we can party it up!
Just think, once you get better, you can go party with the boys on game day(you ARE a UGA fan, right??) and not worry about getting busted for being underage.
I was sitting here reading all the other wonderful words of encouragement others left…
I am a writer, and I could sit here all day and write a beautiful letter, but you’re the same age as me, and I can’t imagine how you must be feeling…
I couldn’t be more thankful for all you do. My husband is in the Air Force and was stationed in Mosul… I will never forget the random phone calls I got and had to hear what really goes down over there.
You have my utmost respect and I seriously hope one day I see you out somewhere, cause you will definitely have someone to party with.
Beer is on me!
So, yeah, back to the I could sit here and write gorgeous words all day…
I got something that might make you laugh instead. I think that’s pretty important. Laughter is the best medicine, and I love to laugh…
so there was this soldier in Vietnam. He was out patrolling the river banks and up on the opposite bank on a hill he saw this figure. He yelled out “friend or foe”, but got no response. He figured the person couldn’t hear him so he decided to mime out what he was trying to convey.
He made a motion and yelled, “Are you with the Paratroopers”?
The figure just stood there with no response.
He made another motion and yelled, “Are you with the navy”?
Still no response.
Again, he made a motion and yelled, “Are you with the troops patrolling the tunnels”?
The man made a motion to turn, but stayed almost glued to the spot.
In a last ditch effort, he made one last motion and screamed, “Are you with the bombers”?
In a flash the man took off running without looking back. The soldier shrugged and continued on with his day.
Turns out, it was a Vietnamese soldier who couldn’t understand anything but the motions.
He ran back to his command and in a hurried, terrified, voice explained to him that, “An American soldier just told him that dawn, he was going to swim across the river and f*&% him in the a@! until his eyeballs popped out”!
hahaha.
It’s funny to me. maybe it’ll get a laugh outta you, too!(:
You take care cuz, things will get better. I promise. I don’t know you, but I know you’re strong enough to make it through this. This is just a hurdle, and if you’re strong enough to be in the military to begin with, you’re not only an amazing man, but tough enough to get through this and look back on it and laugh.

Hi Hunter. I just wanted to say thank you for serving our country and being my hero. I am a Marine wife and a Navy Vet. I truly understand the cost of serving this country. I understand you are going through a really hard time right now. But things will get better. I believe this. I dont think the people who serve this country get thanked often enough. So I just want you to know that I really apperciate the sacrifice you have made for this country. Not only this country but for me and my family. Because of men like you I dont have to worry about my childerns freedom. I come from a long line of service members. So before I close I just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Micaiah
Hello Hunter I first would like to thank you for your sacrifice you have made for my freedom, I know how easy it would be to give in to the defeated feelings you must be having that is normal I am sure , don’t let this defeat you you are young and have so much left in your life to do. I lost my youngest son LCpl William D Spencer in Fallujaeh Iraq he was on the corner of Ethan and Cathy streets when the ambush went wrong he was a marine only 20 years old now my oldest has joined the army like you in a different way though I have felt defeated but we must carry on and be even stronger than before so you canot give up there is a bigger plan out there for all of us we are just not aware of what tomorrow will bring, so that is why we have to wake up tomorrow to find out, there is surely some good to come the lord test us then he brings something wonderful to our lives, that is why we must go on with our lives, something awsome will come I just know it, we ( my oldest son and I ) started a scholarship fund in our loved ones name and within 1 year it has done good for another actually we raised enough money to give 4 $1000.00 scholarships so see there is something good going to come from this ,I imagine you are angry hurt pissed off and mad as hell at just about everything and everyone, that is hell in it self sometimes we cannot see the goo trusst me it will come.
all my support for you and your family,
Love Dawn Spencer

He loves you and He will turn what Satan meant to destroy you into GOOD for you.
Love and prayers,

Hunter,
I just read your story and was compelled to write you. My husband is in the Army and is currently finishing up a 15 month tour in Iraq so I consider you a part of my military family! Thank you so much for the sacrifices you have made. I can only imagine the struggles you are facing but it sounds like you have a lot of support. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Stay strong! You can do this!!!
Hey, my name is kyle Moore and i found out about you on myspace. I want you to know that there is no way i could possibly know how you feel right now. What i do know is that even though i don’t know you, I care about you and want to see you well. You are an extraordinary young man whose bravery goes beyond my comprehension. I am grateful for you. I recently became engaged to someone in the Army. Although I know my time with him might be limited, the love i feel for him conquers the fear of being away from him. Please don’t give up. Stand and fight knowing that people all around the world are behind you supporting you. I am enclosing a poem I wrote some time ago, hoping it will inspire you
We are the strong, we are the proud.
When we sing the anthem, we sing it loud.
If you don’t agree, you have the right
Given to you by our troops that fight.
If you don’t support them, thats fine with me
they paid your price as they suffer and bleed.
You don’t like the flag, then leave it alone
If I see you burn it, I will show you just where you belong.
We are proud, we are strong, we are true
We fight for it all
We fight for the Red, White, and Blue!!

Hunter- keep your head up bro. Don’t let this get you. Your a strong person and you already know that- you joined the military and volunteered to go to war…pretty sure that describes a strong person! I know times are tough, but just remember that your always on the minds of your brothers in arms. We will keep you in our prayers…keep up the good work bro
Hunter…I know you don’t know me, but my father was a soldier and I want you to think about something. Imagine how different the world would be for everyone you know and for yourself if you were suddenly not there. If you give up and don’t get back home, you may be changing the lives of many people, many of whom may not be alive because you wern’t there to help them. Please take this time to think about things and how important your life really is. I almost forgot, Happy belated birthday and thank you for what you are doing to protect this country. You’re a hero an an inspiration to us all. Hang in there, man. Trust me when I tell you it will be worth it!

Please know that you are not alone. There are people out there that care about you and will place you in their thoughts and prayers. God bless you for all you have done & on your road to recovery. May it be a speedy one.
Hello Hunter. Happy belated birthday to you.
God bless and watch over you and your family. I’m praying for you. My son is also in the Military and serving in Iraq right now.
I do not take the freedom we enjoy in this great country for granted. I know that it doesn’t come free. I thank you for what you have given us. Words don’t seem like enough and indeed, they fall short. But, words offered up in prayer are heard and I know that God answers prayer.
Bless you.

Dear Hunter,
Happy belated Birthday. I want to thank you for your service. I know that freedom is not free. You are my Hero!! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi Hunter. I just read about your situation and I just cannot imagine what all you must be going through. I have a son that is a PFC in the army, currently stationed in Korea, and i just think what i would tell him if he were in your position. You have survived for a REASON, and that reason may not become clear to you for quite a while yet. It may feel like your life is over, and maybe the life you knew is, but your new life is just beginning. Somewhere in you is the strength to overcome, because you are a strong, wonderful, brave young man with a special life to look ahead to. You faught hard for you country, now it is time to fight hard for yourself, and your family. And we are all behind you, in many numbers. Our prayers are with you.
Hooah!
Bless you, bless you, hugs

Dear Hunter,
Happy Birthday and for your Birthday I am sending you a letter with pictures of my family.
I am so proud of everything you have done for our
country and for me.
I also have PTSD and understand it. In my letter
I will share with you some of my trials and also my joys too.
When I heard your story I was so crushed by what
happened to you and I know how sad you feel.
It is such a scary place to be…not knowing if life will ever be the same again but it can but it takes time and strength.
It feels like it would be easier to give up but really its not because so many people out here
care so much for you that if you could see the love you would be the richest man alive!!!
I will send my letter after Thanksgiving and I know you will have a Blessed Thanksgiving.
I am praying for you and holding you up above my
thoughts!
Your a very lucky man and hold on ok

Thank you for all you have done for us!
We love you! and you are in our prayers!

Hi Hunter,
I heard about you from a page in my space. I want you to know that there are more people praying for you than you even know. we want you to fight to get better. do not give up. I was also in the Army, and served in Iraq, and i am battleing with cancer and alot of other issues right now. I have felt many times like giving up, but that is not the answer. There is so much you can do to change other peoples lives. You are a true hero, and i know sometimes it hurts to be a hero. but someday if you dont already, your going to have children, and grandchildren, and they are going to be so proud of what you have done for this country, just as all of us are. Believe me, dont give up, hang in there, we are all rooting for you, and waiting to hear how you are doing.
Thought I’d check back in with you today. Been sending you and your family many prayers during your recovery. You remind me of a music video I did back in August. The song was ‘Tougher Than the Rest’ by Chris Ledoux. Here’s the site it’s on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F3kFyg3wQ4 It reminds me of you….Tougher than the rest!!

Just wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers. You hang in their soldier. Your mission is not complete. God still has work for you to do and a whole nation of loving people supporting you. You are MY hero!! If you ever need to just rant or chat, e-mail me. I would love to hear from you.
Dear Hunter–
I first of all want to thank you for your service to our beloved America and our Constitution. I am one who understands and appreciates it, and anyone who doesn’t is no friend of mine or of America.
Happy belated birthday, Bro! I know what you went through at your age is no picnic, but you are a good person and a good Citizen. You are not a quitter. Grasp that which you believe in and don’t let go; you got through the worst and the rest will fall into place for you. Rest up and recover and know that the real America (not the hostile propaganda machine that is the “mainstream media”) is with you and your brothers-in-arms 100%!
Again, thank you from the depths of my heart for helping to keep us safe and free.
Dear Hunter,
I am ex-air force and I am a member of the Patriot Guard. An email was sent to all P.G. members to inform us of your situation. I’ve never seen combat… I was fortunate. There is a special place in my heart for service members who fought over seas. You brave Americans sacrafice everything so the rest of us can leave in peace and security. No one can imagine what a soldier goes though in combat unless they have been there themselves. I want to tell you I am proud that people like you serve in our military. I want to thank you… thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for America. The word gets used a lot now-a-days, but I believe you are a true American Hero.
God Bless you and your family in your recovery.

Hello Hunter!!
I am a volunteer for Soldiers’ Angels and heard about you through them. First of all I just want you to know how much I appreciate all you have done for our country. You are an awesome young man. Also, I would like to wish you a belated Happy Birthday! Oh to be 21 again! There is so much ahead for you, Hunter. So many good things. I wish I could be there to give you a big hug and encouraging words to help you through the difficult times. However, I am sure there many people who love and care for you to do just that! The bottom line is that there are people who you don’t even know that are thinking of you and lifting up your needs to God. THis is my promise to you, from this day on you will be in the prayers my family does every night before we go to bed. You will heal, you will get better. Keep up your spirits, Hunter. You can do anything with the love and support of friends, family, and God. Many blessings to you, Paula Swihart..Humboldt County, California
Dear Hunter,
You are a hero and you have an entire country’s worth of support behind you. I know this is a tough time. You will prevail. I’m reminded of something that an old teacher read to me once about overcoming obstacles. Here it is, below. Sail on, Hunter, and best wishes.

BEHIND him lay the gray Azores,
Behind the Gates of Hercules;
Before him not the ghost of shores,
Before him only shoreless seas.
The good mate said: “Now must we pray,
For lo! the very stars are gone.
Brave Admiral, speak, what shall I say?”
“Why, say, ‘Sail on! sail on! and on!’”
“My men grow mutinous day by day;
My men grow ghastly wan and weak.”
The stout mate thought of home; a spray
Of salt wave washed his swarthy cheek.
“What shall I say, brave Admiral, say,
If we sight naught but seas at dawn?”
“Why, you shall say at break of day,
‘Sail on! sail on! sail on! and on!’”
They sailed and sailed, as winds might blow,
Until at last the blanched mate said:
“Why, now not even God would know
Should I and all my men fall dead.
These very winds forget their way,
For God from these dread seas is gone.
Now speak, brave Admiral, speak and say”—
He said: “Sail on! sail on! and on!”
They sailed. They sailed. Then spake the mate:
“This mad sea shows his teeth to-night.
He curls his lip, he lies in wait,
With lifted teeth, as if to bite!
Brave Admiral, say but one good word:
What shall we do when hope is gone?”
The words leapt like a leaping sword:
“Sail on! sail on! sail on! and on!”
Then, pale and worn, he kept his deck,
And peered through darkness. Ah, that night
Of all dark nights! And then a speck—
A light! A light! A light! A light!
It grew, a starlit flag unfurled!
It grew to be Time’s burst of dawn.
He gained a world; he gave that world
Its grandest lesson: “On! sail on!”

Hi hunter,

A Jewish man is walking on the beach when he discovers a bottle containing genie. He rubs it and a genie comes out, promises to grant him one wish. He says, “Peace in the Middle east, that’s my wish.” The genie looks concerned, then says “No, I’m sorry, that’s just not possible. Some things just can’t be changed. Do you have another wish?” The guys says ‘Well…for my whole life I’ve never receievd oral sex from my wife. That would be my wish.” The genie pauses for another moment and then says “How would you define peace?”

Hi, Hunter, and belated Happy Birthday wishes to you!!
I’m a bookkeeper by day and a bellydancer by night, living in Nashua NH. I’m also a very proud Army-brat; my Dad was in the Army for over 20 years and my Mother is German.
One of the gentlemen in the band that I’m so honored to dance for is a Military Vet. He still has shrapnel that causes him immense pain. He’s 86 years old and is at the restaurant, playing his violin 3 nights a week. He’s also still quite the lady’s man.
I’m dancing this Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I’m going to tell him about you, and we will be playing and dancing for you.
I hope to have it recorded, so you can hear Freddy playing, and in his (and the band’s) music, you’ll envision me dancing. Without their music, we could not dance. It’s all from within.
Remember; take each moment as a step in time. Yes, there are some that absolutely suck. There’s no doubt about that. And there’s nothing wrong with feeling that. But each step, each moment, brings you further along. Stay strong. And keep listening to the music in your heart.

Hey Hunter,
I am an Army Mom. I have two in. A son who is a medic with a 4th ID CAB. He is currently in Eastern Baghdad in the 12th month of his 15 month deployment. My daughter is in the states and is also going to deploy.
I read about you on another site about a wounded soldier. I just wanted to write you to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
None of us get to know the trials we will face in our time here. We don’t get a map, no book of rules. I have gone through many many hard times in my life. Somedays All that I could manage was to just “be”. Sometimes just “being” is sufficent unto the day. We don’t get to choose the hardships that will come to us, all that we get to choose is how we respond to that which we are dealt. I can only imagine how tough this must be for you. You are a young man and your life has just been thrown a big curve ball. You would now be going through the stages of grief. We humans go through this when we experience loss, any kind of loss. It is a process that feels like an awful emotional rollercoaster ride, down and up and down and up. It is a difficult process, but try to remember that it is “a process”. You work through it one day at a time (sometimes it will feel like 30 seconds at a time) all of the days will not be good ones, but they all won’t be bad either. If you have a really tough day, just hang on through it, until the good days come. They will come Hunter, they will. You have so much ahead of you, the rest of your life that will be filled with things so wonderful, that you never expected to happen. You have many around you who love you and that is a gift that cannot be underestimated.
Know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers. I will keep checking in on you and continue for to pray for your speedy recovery.
Hope

Hunter,
Greeting from South Carolina! I want to wish you well and thank you for the sacrifices you have made to protect our country. I will pray that God’s grace and peace be with you on your journey to recovery.
May God bless you and your family.

Hi Hunter….
I am sorry that I do not have any wise words of wisdom to offer. But I can offer the biggest thank you and hug that one person can possibly have. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done for our country. My husband and I have a 14 month old daughter and we feel that it is very important to raise her to appreciate the many freedoms that you and so many others have fought to protect….so that is what we intend to do. I hope that you and your family have the happiest of holiday season. I guess my words of wisdom would be to keep fighting Hunter. When things get tough just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. You have a lot of people behind you, supporting you and giving you a loving push from behind.
Keep Fighting

Hunter,
I am a Soldier’s Angel. I am also a Marine Mom. But more importantly, I am an Apostolic. I have seen God heal people of cancer. I have seen the crippled walk. My exhusband has seen dead people brought back to life. I serve a miracle working God. Hunter,This is only a little bump in the road on your way to Damascus. You grab on to that with the mighty faith of a warrior soldier and God will take you THROUGH this valley.
Have a good Thanksgiving, Hunter. We will pray for you, your family, and all the troops over Thanksgiving dinner as well.
HOOAH!

I just wanted to let you know that I hope you start to feel better soon. I spent alot of time in VA hospitals with my dad and I know how lonely they can be.
Please remember that there are people in the world who will love and support you and want to thank you for your service to our country.
Happy Thanksgiving, Hunter
I promise you, Hunter, that I will be a better person for having heard your story. My father is a veteran of WWI and he is now 89 years old and I’m so proud of him. I am forever in awe of men and women who give up their lives for their country and you have work to be done. Your mission now is to tell people it is worth it. You have touched so many people who have read your story. My dad is a hero to his family and he wasn’t even wounded. Our country needs apologists like you. Thanks , Hunter.
Peggy Magee.
Hello Hunter,

Dear PFC Hunter - Happy belated birthday and Happy Thanksgiving!
I just want you to know that I, like most Americans, am extremely proud of you. This country would not exist as we know it if not for the Brave such as yourself. I thank God everyday for the fine men and women who answer the call to serve this country.
Please Hunter, keep on fighting the good fight. We need you. We love you.
You will be in my prayers, Hunter.

Hi, Hunter. As today is Thanksgiving, it seems like a good time to express my thanks for selfless, caring, dedicated young people like you who are willing to go where our country sends you and do whatever is asked of you despite the cost. You may not know it, but there are many, many people who have undying respect and gratitude for you and all the others like you. May God bless you and speed your recovery. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Hello from “right up the road” in Dallas (non-Texans can’t understand how 250 miles can be ‘right up the road,’ but like I tell them… In Texas that might be a driveway!)
I received an email from Bill Venema who had the opportunity to meet you last Thursday. He wrote to tell me your story. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your service to the country, my family and me. You will be in our prayers for a speedy recovery.
Hunter,
I wanted to send you this email from Fort Worth and let you know that we are proud of you and all you have done for your Country. Serving in the Army is an outstanding vocation and says a great deal about ones character, honor and commitment. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with Theresa and family.
My son Jeff is 15 years old and is looking at A&M as well as an Army or Marine Corps commitment. Even though I’m a Marine myself, I would be proud as a Dad to have Jeff with the 10th Mountain, 82nd or 101st! We just finished a deer hunting outing and he took a nice 8 pt white tail outside of Forestburg, Texas.
I look forward to meeting you one day and would like to stay in touch.
God Bless,
Wayne Trimmer
Happy belated Birthday Mr. Hunter!
I work with Mr. Bill Venema whom he and his wife I believe visited with you over the Thanksgiving weekend. I feel in my heart that God has something very special for you in store. God will reward you for your efforts and services to our country. I know that you cannot understand it yet, but by and by you will. Please know that God loves you and he is still in the healing business. He can open blind eyes but you must believe that he can do this, and he will. I pray a speedy healing over your entire body and will continue to intercede in prayer to Jehova Ropheka, the healing God. Be blessed and always know that in your darkest hour somebody is thinking of you and praying for you. Be strong and encouraged in the Lord! There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless you Mr. Hunter and may God keep you in his care is my prayer. I love you in the name of Jesus!
Sincerely,
Barbara W. Golden
Thank you Hunter for all you have done and the sacrifices you’ve made for our country. As a Viet Nam Veteran myself I salute you and will keep you in my prayers.Thank you from the bottom of my heart Trooper.Good Luck and God Bless.
Hunter, I am lifting you up in prayer. God has always granted strength to His wariors and I know that He will meet your need now. I know that at times the road seems long and dark, but believe me when I tell you that while it may seem that you are travelling alone you aren’t really. There are a lot of us out here in the US who are praying for you and who are supporting you all the way.
Thank you so much for all that you have done to help keep the US safe from terrorists.
I will be watching this Site for more updates.
God Bless You, Christina Rhys
Hunter,
I hope this comment finds you in good spirits, I am not sure if you will remember me all that much. But I used to babysit you and the girls when you guys were little. You had such a strong spirit then, and I know you will continue to have that spirit. I have such funny memories of you and the girls growing up. Keep your head up, you are so loved by “T” and the family. I wish I could have visited with you for Thanksgiving, but I was at a school for the military. Hoping to see you for Christmas! Wishing you well.
Hunter,
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you fight your biggest battle. I am in Arkansas and am a vet myself. Who knows what God intends for your life, but I would like you to think about something. I get very distraught as I watch the kids growing up around me. They generally have no idea about the world, our country and what our military means to them. I hope that some young folks like yourself might find a way to speak at our schools, youth organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs, etc., and tell your story. Yes, some would pity or feel sorry for you, but that’s okay. We need to instill an appreciation in them for what our soldiers go through to protect them. Perhaps then they will stand still, cross their hearts and show respect and honor when the National Anthem is played at the next event. You and many like you are truly heroes, and I thank you for what you have given up for us.
God Bless,
Ron
Hi Hunter,
I wanted to say hello and wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Things are rough now, but I know in my heart that you will get through the worst and be better soon.
Please know there are a lot of people who care about you far and near.
Above all, please accept out thanks for your service and fight to get better.
Take care my friend,

Hi Hunter, how’s it going? Hope you are getting along well. Are you ready for Christmas? Just wanted to drop by and say I’m thinking of you. I hope someday when you are feeling better you make your way to Las Vegas….I would love to shake your hand and buy you dinner, because without soldiers like you I know I would be toast.
All my love and respect
Trish
Hi, Hunter!
I’m so glad to hear that you’re home now. You’ve got another Angel watching out for you up here in Irving, TX. I’m the one who wrote “get your butt out of bed!” in the first card I sent to you. *laughs* I hope the nurses or your family read that part to you. Guess I’ll lighten up on the ICU RN gig since you’re out of the hospital.
You enjoy your trip to Orlando to see Gary Sinise, and of course, we want to hear all about it! Keep up the great work on your recovery, Hunter. I am so very proud of you.

We are all so proud of the courageous, brave man that you have become - how blessed is thw world to have such a treasure! I just know that there will be many more great things to come from you - look out world!!! I have a 13 year old daughter named Savannah and we speak of you often. She attends Fatima and was one of the children who sent you well wishes. She tells me that her teacher Nicole Ardoin-Crochet has class discussions about your heroics on a regular basis. You are the stuff that legends are made of - and you are already legendary in these parts!!!
May God continue to Bless you and may the Blessed Mother hold you in her arms and bring you peace and comfort on your difficult journey.

My son came back from Iraq last month, it was his second time.
God will help you over come, look to Him. He is the answer and is your stregth.
Maybe you or your family/friends would like to be a speaker at our club sometime? here in Houston. We pray for all our troops every time we meet.
You have such a great support of family and friends, I know you will conquer this mountain. Check out those healing scriptures you were given,He is the best healer ever!!! God bless you, Chris. (I can’t post my last name, last time I did that the trainers found it and used it on my son in his interogation training. i just took out the name of our club, because I am listed in the web site. So if we ever talk off line I will tell you which one, but we love our troops!!!!) and the USA!
Hi Hunter,
Merry Christmas!
A dear friend and colleague (Bill Blalock) first told me about you and your seasons-of-life a few months back.
Although this is my first time to reach out, please know I’ve been lifting you up in prayer for several months.
Specific prayers for you to receive God’s Spirit. The Spirit of peace, the Spirit of courage, the Spirit of confidence, the Spirit of healing for you and your family.
I can only try to imagine…I know that it is hard. I also know it’s working…the prayers are working.
We must always remember to focus on one day at a time; believing before we see that it’s all going to work out.
I would like to hear back from you. In the deepest, most sincere way…may I ask, where are you with God?
Hi Hunter, just want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas,I am so glad that you are home to celebrate this holiday.God bless you and turn your life into a new beginning,I have no doubt you’ll do fine.
Miriam
Merry Christmas. I just read about you and all you’ve been through. I am an Army vet as well and a disabled veteran. I work at the VA as well and just wanted to let you know that I’m here to help out in anyway possible. I live right here in the area so please feel free to contact me with any questions about any veteran resources you need. Best~erin
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Hunter! Praying for a better year for ya, come 2009!
Hi Hunter, I hope your Christmas was a happy one. Hang in there kiddo, I’m pulling for you. You are my hero! Again, if your family ever makes it to Vegas look me up, we would love the simple honor of buying you a nice dinner.
Our family has been praying for you ever since we heard you were injured. I heard about your injuries through our church’s (The Woodlands United Methodist Church) prayer list. You have been and will continue to be in our prayers. We lost our son, Zack Homrighaus, to brain cancer, two weeks before his 21st birthday, on December 27, 2003. We miss him every day, but because of that loss, can rejoice even more for your parents and family that you came home. Zack very much wanted to serve our country, but the brain tumor he was diagnosed with kept him from doing so. Zack was a hero in the battle he was faced with; you are a true hero, too, for facing all your battles with such courage. Remember you are not alone in this - besides your family and friends, there are many of us out here pulling for you and God is watching over you with great love and care. Remember Phil. 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
Dear Hunter,
Words can never replace the sorrow, the loss, nor the pain and suffering you must have and do experience.
What you will hopefully know, at times when you find yourself feeling lower than life, is that you have sacrificed your well-being for all of us. And that we are eternally grateful to you (and to all of those who suffer as you do), and for those who get left behind when their soldier dies. To us, you are our hero!
Ferbent prayers will be sent your way so that you find comfort and peace during and after recovery.
My classroom has written you a few notes in hope that it will help you know your greatness!
From Shantay,
Hi! I am Shantay. I can’t even imagine what you are going through. I do know how it feels to hurt your face. Not as bad as yours but, I know you have people who care about you! That is a fact. I also know that those people wouldnt want you to give up life because of this incident.
There are many reasons for you to live. Sometimes, when I’m upset, I go play with my kitties. Jeffery & Joey. They make everything better! Animals know when something is wrong! They coem up to you, lick you, etc. So I suggest going and getting a cat or dog! Cats aremore gnetle and dogs are more playful. Pets are comforting! I know sometimes you probably want to end your life - that is not a solution.
From Kaylani,
Well, hellow, my name is Kaylani. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate everything you have done for our country. You are a hero to me. You are a really brave person. What you do is amazing to me and other people. I ust watned to take the time to say thank you for everything, and what you sacrificed for us to be free.
From Miranda,
Times in life are very hard. People get killed, people go without food and homes. But you! You have done so much to help America! You were willing to die for your country. People all go through rough, rough times in life, but you are in a rougher one now. I appreciate all that you have done. i just encourage you to not give up. I know that God cares about you and I think we all care about you and what you did for our country. If I could say anything to you if would be….don’t give up. Everything is ok in the end. So if its not ok, its not the end. I will never forget you and what you did for me, and my family and my friends. No one in the world is more greatful for what you did than mej! You will be in my prayers. God bless you!
From Jewels,
I’ve heard you have been down and I would love to help encourage your day and I know it is probably really weird that a complete stranger is writing to you. But you know what you did for our country takes a lot of guts - you know just the sacrifices let alone going out there and having to leave your family with doubt, sometimes of every coming back and being in Iraq. Wow, I’m sure you have seen almost all of it. What you have shown me is when to lend a hand out to another in need, and that is the beginning of true friendship.
From Dillon
You did so much for our country and a lot of peple are thankful for what you did. I think it would be very scarey to go somewhere that is new to me. So I hope you get well soon and don’t give up. Thank you for everything you did.
From Yuriana,
Dear Hunter, Basically, you’re a hero. You risked getting hurt for your country. I think thats really great because there’s people out there that are just selfish and only think of themselves. But you didn’t…. you thought about America and all the people in it. Think about it …. you sacrificed a lot … if you think there’s no reason to live, think again. I’m sure there’s people out there that would love to hear your story and what it was like. I know I would …. Don’t be down…. when life gives you a hundred reasons to frown, give it a thousand reasons to smile!
From Monica,
Dear Hunter, I am Monica and WOW! I am really amazed in what you put yourself through. You did all that for our safety, and for our country. Even though I hardly know you, I really look up to you as a hero. I really mean it. I wish there were more people like you that are strong and caring in this country.
Hunter, there is a reason to live. There is a bright future for you - honestly. There are billions and billions of people that thank you for what you did … but I thank you very, very, very much. And Please don’t be down because if you are down the people that love you will feel down! So … cheer up soldier! Because we all thank you and love you!
From Nancy,
First of all thank you for everything you’ve done for this country. Please don’t give up on life. You are too young to just throw everything away. Just be tahnkful that you are still alive and you have a family that loves and cares for you. We are all here to support you. I hope you end up feeling better and you still have many things waiting to happen in your life that are good. My best wishes to you.

Dearest Hunter,
I live in Northern California and I just saw your website. I am a Blue Star Mom because my son Greg is in Iraq right now. I want to thank you so much for serving our country and being so brave. I pray for all of our military everyday and I am praying for you now. I was born and raised in Texas and lived in Houston for 2 years. I know exactly where Woodlands is located. When I left Texas in 1975, they had just built the Woodland area. I loved it.
I know it must be hard for you right now but many people are thinking about you. Please know I will be thinking of you. Keep good thoughts in your mind and God will be by your side.
God Bless all of our military and you Hunter.
Hugs to you.
Marisue Archer

I know you’ll find the way to dig down deep and discover what your new life will hold for you. With your courage and character, you’ll find the path to a successful and fulfilling future. God bless you, my friend.

Hunter as a Proud Army Mom, I saw your appearence on KHOU tonight and was truly touched by your story. We just want you to know how blessed we are to have soliders like you defending our Country and protecting our FREEDOM. Our prayers go up for you, for your continued recovery. Hang in there, stay strong because you are and always will be Army Strong…….
Hunter: Happy Birthday. HOOAH. Thank you for your service. Hang in there. It will take some time to get used to your new situation. I fell off a roof just two months after graduating from Army Jump School, fracturing my skull. Fortunately, I came back from it over the course of the following year, with minimal lasting effects. But it did change the direction of my life. I had planned to go Army Aviation - but even a concussion prevents that. But my dad contracted polio at the age of 3 and he had plenty of experience dealing with a handicap. He taught me a lot over the years that helped me deal with changes. One of his sayings that I love best is this - I’m not disabled, I’m handicapped - like you handicap a good horse or a good golfer. You WILL find a new path for your life. Trust me. Another good saying my dad had was - Some people have two good arms and two good legs, but they are still disabled - by their attitude. While my dad had a metal brace on one leg and a pair of crutches all his adult life, he still managed to become a pilot, a truck driver, a business owner, an inventor and much more. During WWII he worked as a civilian crash inspector for the Army Air Corps. Don’t let anything keep you down. The only thing that can hold you back is your attitude. The world is yours - and I am very thankful that you are in the world. Oh, and later, I did become a pilot for the Air Force Auxiliary / Civil Air Patrol and became a search and rescue pilot, cadet orientation pilot and more. Its a volunteer civilian role, but it made me feel awesome. Keep your chin up. HOOAH!

I know that you don’t know who I am, but to me you are part of my family. May God Bless you and keep you in good health. Take Care!!
Thank You for your service to our country.

It’s guys like you who make America strong.

Hi Hunter,
I first wanted to start this by saying thank you very much for what you have giving us. your sacrifice will go along way in my book. I was really touched by your story and so glad you chose not to give up. And you are so right that there is many soldiers out there that need your help and your positive attitude. there is a reason for everything god does and this reason is for you to help others. You don’t have to see what you are doing for everyone you can feel it. It all comes from the heart and you have a really big one. You could of easily just crawled up and said screw everyone and everything but you did not and now your heart is your eyes and I am sure you will still be able to see clearly through your heart. So that you so much for keeping us safe over here and I wish only the best for you and your family and of course those awsom friends you have. keep your head up and your heart open.
Lots Of Love

Hello,
I saw your story on KHOU’s website and just wanted to drop by to say thank you for your service. I’m an Army Veteran and a police officer and I firmly believe you guys are the true hero’s. Again, thank you and God bless you for your service.
It is not the politicians that give us our Rights, it is the Soldiers and Veterans that paid the price for those rights.
From me and mine, to you and yours, Peace and Godspeed.

I just wanted to let you know, Hunter, that I am one American who is very proud and thankful of you for your service abroad. If not for you and the other soldiers like you I would not have the freedom to even write this message for you. I can never thank you enough for the dedication you have given to this great country. No one can ever thank you and all of the soldiers of our military enough for all that you do for us here at home. Though I cannot understand what you must be going through in losing your sight, I can sympathize with you for your loss. I have several family members in the military and everyday I pray for their safe returns and safe keeping when they are away from home. I pray for all of the soldiers in the military where ever they happen to be at the time. I pray everyday that all of our soldiers get to come home to their families soon. I will be sending you warm thoughts and blessings to help you get through the rough times ahead of you. I am hoping that with my message here I can help wrap your heart in warmth, love, and compassion and help you find the will to keep moving forward. Love and Godspeed to you and yours.

I was on the computer this morning and I saw your story, I wanted to cry. I just wanna say thank you for serving this country I know it’s not always said but thank you so much for what you scarficed. A lot of people are at odds about the troops being over there but that doesnt take away from what you did. Your story touched me and reminded me of why we need to bring our troops home so this thing can final be over. God bless you and your family and please get better soon. I and so many others owe you a debt that can never be repaided.
Dear Hunter,
Thanks for everything you have done. I just wanted to tell you that my best friends are your cousins Harrison, Alex, and Griffen Smith.
Hunter, we just saw about you on the TV today here in Dallas. With a little mistiness I said aloud, thank you. You and your comrades love us, the American people, with that love that is none greater than he that lays down his life for another. Blessed be you and they that y’all multiply that by about three hundred million fold. Even though we’ve never met, you loved me, as one of your countrymen that you’ve done so along with your comrades at arms. May the Almighty bless you and them especially graciously.
Hollywood, Madison Anenue, and the runways of fashion don’t have the “beautiful people” of this world. The real “beautiful people” of this whole world are none other that each of the people like you in service to this country.
Dear Hunter: At 7:45 this morning, I saw your story on KHOU TV. I am a 52 year old grandmother, overweight and tired. I must admit, I was feeling a little depressed. Your story gave me an immediate uplift. As I heard your words of wisdom, a smile immediately came on my face. I see you as a young, courageous man who is helping others by the telling of his own story. Your story helped me to get up this morning and face today with a smile on my face and peace in my heart. I hope you realize that your incredible story not only helps other wounded soldiers, it also helps us so called “normal people”. Thank you for making my day.
Sincerely, Rose.
Now, a few words for your friend Blake. I am not very computer savvy. I was looking for a place on this website to make a monetary donation. If it’s here, ignore this message. If not, how about adding a section where we can donate using our credit card? It would be another option for people like me who pay all their bills online.
I think about you every day, brother. My heart was filled with emotion during your news interview. Remember we that stood beside you were privileged to have done so, and are always ready, now and forever to stand beside you again should you so require. You’re a hero to me, and so many others and we miss you all the time.

Hey Hunter, if my last name doesn’t strike any resemblance I’m the younger brother of Nathan Parkinson aka; Doc. I just wanted to say that I’ve heard a lot about you from him. He sent me a link to your story and it was nice to finally match a name to a face. Our mom was over our shoulder watching it, while Nate was on the phone. She started crying so hard, we couldn’t even hear the computer, haha
Thank you for being there and fighting for us Hunter, You’re awesome man and deserve the best the world has to offer.
Much Love,
-Joel
Dear Hunter,
I just saw your story on the news. I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for our country. As an army wife, hearing your story and seeing your positive outlook even with the severe sacrifices you’ve given has me knowing that whatever happens to MY love, everything will be alright. No one can ever thank you enough… or any of you brothers over their fighting for us.
Love,
Elizabeth
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HUNTER! Yesterday was my birthday - APRIL seems to be a month for strong people. I want to first thank you for your dedicated service in defending our country. Next, I suffered a stroke over 27 years ago so I know life can throw you a curve ball in a single moment, so hang in there! When I saw your story on TV, I started to cry. You are a very brave person who will make enormous strides in life no matter what you are given. GOD BLESS!

Hunter! I don’t know you, but you are a brave young man! I’m just an old lady that saw your piece on the news.
YOu are a good looking boy, and you don’t give up. You have a fabulous life to look forward to.
Be an advocate for the blind. I have macular degeneration and have limited vision myself. It’s hard, but I make do.
Go to college, get yer degree and get going, youngun!
Hunter,
Thank you for your service to our country. Listening to your story today on our local news (Washington State), you give hope to many that you may never know or meet you. You are truly amazing and we want to thank you for your words of hope to this country.
May you know that millions are supporting you. May God bless you and your family.
I came across your page from a link on KHOU.com. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice. I served in Iraq in 2007 as a flight medic and it always broke my heart thinking that the men and women I worked so hard to save, would not get the recognition they deserved when they got home. Because of you, I see great changes coming. Please remember that your service is dearly appreciated and never forgotten! Stay strong!

It’s hard to know the right thing to say when nothing seems like it can really compare to the sacrfice you’ve made. From the bottom of my heart, my family and I thank you for the courage you’ve displayed in defending our country. I know the road ahead of you seems long. I don’t want to seem trivial when I say this, but you’ve come this far. You can make it the rest of the way. Just know that so many people are pulling for you. You’ve inspired a nation. Thanks, and good luck!
